About Ausable River (Main Stem)

The combined Ausable below the East–West Branch confluence — a famous fly-fishing destination running through the Wilmington and Lake Placid corridor. Gorge sections offer dramatic dry-fly water, and spring lake-run Atlantic salmon (NYSDEC Lake Champlain recovery) supplement resident brown, rainbow, and brook trout.
