About Barren River Tailwater
A put-and-take tailwater below Barren River Lake Dam with easy bank access and reliable seasonal stocking. Paved parking and accessible wading directly below the dam make it one of the most beginner-friendly trout destinations in south-central Kentucky. Not a destination fishery, but consistent spring and fall stocking makes it worth a local trip when it's fresh.
Regulations
KY Fishing License + Trout Permit required. Tailwater section managed under special regulations — check KDFWR for current trout and walleye rules (walleye slot limit applies in some sections). Stocking March through late October. CFS alone does not indicate fishability — check Barren River Lake Dam release schedule.
