About Castle Creek

A remote and lightly pressured Black Hills stream draining the Castle Creek drainage near Hill City. Castle Creek is one of the quieter gems in the Black Hills system — dam-influenced flows from Deerfield Reservoir stabilize conditions in the lower sections, while the upper creek retains wild freestone character. Access requires more effort than Spearfish or Rapid Creek, which keeps crowds thin and fish less educated.
