About Conejos River

One of the last strongholds for wild Rio Grande Cutthroat Trout — a species of conservation concern. Remote southern Colorado fishery deep in Rio Grande National Forest. Use barbless hooks, practice careful catch-and-release. Upper reaches via CO-17 south of Antonito. 4+ hour drive from Denver. Worth every mile.
