About East Branch Delaware River

The East Branch Delaware is a world-class wild brown trout tailwater below Pepacton Reservoir. Cold, fertile reservoir releases extend the hatch season and grow large wild fish. The Downsville stretch is particularly famous, with consistent dam-controlled flows and excellent Hendrickson, Sulphur, and Green Drake emergences.

Regulations

Tailwater below Pepacton Reservoir β€” flows are influenced by NYC DEP reservoir operations, not just natural precipitation. Check NYC DEP release schedules at nyc.gov/dep before driving. Delayed-harvest and no-kill sections below the dam β€” consult NYSDEC regs for current boundaries. Requires NYSDEC license.
