About East Walker River

A remote, high-desert tailwater flowing below Bridgeport Reservoir (in California) into Nevada's Walker River basin. The East Walker is famous for trophy brown trout — fish over 20 inches are common, with specimens exceeding 5 lbs not unusual for skilled anglers. Cold dam releases maintain year-round trout habitat in an otherwise arid landscape. Access requires more commitment than most Nevada streams, which keeps pressure relatively light and fish less educated.

Regulations

Nevada Fishing License required. Check NDOW for current East Walker River special regulations — artificial-only and size limit restrictions are common on trophy sections. Regulations vary by section; confirm at ndow.org before fishing.
