About Lamoille Creek
Tucked into Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains southeast of Elko, this is arguably the most beautiful trout stream in Nevada. The Rubies rise to over 11,000 feet, feeding Lamoille Creek with cold, clear water through a glacier-carved canyon often called 'the Yosemite of Nevada.' Brook trout and Lahontan cutthroat are stocked by NDOW alongside wild rainbows. The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest surrounds the canyon, providing excellent public access. A remote destination that rewards the drive with spectacular scenery and quality small-stream fishing.
Regulations
Nevada Fishing License required. Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest — no permit required for day fishing. Standard Nevada trout regulations apply: 5 fish daily limit. Wilderness area regulations may apply in upper canyon sections.
