About Mad River

The Mad River is a small Litchfield County stream draining the hills above Winsted before joining the Still River. It holds stocked brown trout and some wild brookies in its cooler upper reaches, with flows moderated by the Mad River Flood Control Impoundment. An approachable local option for early-season stocked trout fishing.
