About Namekagon River

The Namekagon River in northwestern Wisconsin is part of the federally designated St. Croix National Scenic Riverway — a wild, free-flowing freestone river with strong populations of brook trout, brown trout, and seasonal smallmouth bass. The upper river holds the best trout water; the Hex hatch in late June into July is the defining event. Floats out of Cable and Hayward access excellent public water.
