About Natchaug River

The Natchaug River runs through Natchaug State Forest in eastern Connecticut, delivering secluded pool-riffle fishing for wild brown and brook trout in a densely wooded setting. The Chaplin section near Marcy Road is the heart of the quality fishery, with tight overhanging canopy that rewards pinpoint accuracy. Cold seeps and forest cover keep temperatures fishable into early summer, and the river receives stocking that supplements a resilient wild population.
