About North Fork of White River
Arguably Missouri's finest wild trout river — a world-class spring-fed fishery in Ozark County. Extraordinarily consistent flows and temperatures year-round thanks to massive spring systems. Wild brown and rainbow trout populate the river, with fish seeding upstream from the Norfork National Fish Hatchery just across the Arkansas border. Bryant Creek — fed by the iconic Hodgson Mill Spring — is a premier tributary. Remote, uncrowded, and devastatingly beautiful. Note: USGS officially names this gauge 'North Fork River near Tecumseh, MO' — search for 'North Fork River' not 'North Fork White River' in USGS systems. There is no separate USGS gauge on Spring Creek near Hodgson Mill; use Bryant Creek as the proxy.
Regulations
Missouri fishing license + trout permit required (resident $12 license + ~$10 trout permit). The North Fork has special trophy/management areas with reduced creel limits and gear restrictions on portions of the river — verify current rules at mdc.mo.gov before fishing. 2026–27 regulation cycle.
