About Pedernales River

The Pedernales (locals say 'Perd-en-alice') flows through LBJ ranch country past rugged limestone canyons. One of nine Guadalupe bass genetic restoration rivers in Texas — pure-strain fish are stocked to counter smallmouth hybridization. Pedernales Falls State Park provides excellent public access with beautiful cascading shoals. The river's intermittent character means sections can go pool-only in drought; timing around spring rains is essential. When conditions are right, excellent topwater bass action.
