About Pequannock River

The Pequannock River flows through Morris and Passaic counties in the Highlands region, draining the Bearfort Mountain watershed before being impounded at Charlotteburg Reservoir. The upper river above the reservoir offers quality freestone trout water in a forested setting, while the lower reaches below Macopin are stocked regularly. A solid secondary option in the Highlands with good access via Norvin Green State Forest.

Regulations

Standard NJ stocked trout regulations apply on most sections. Upper watershed sections within state forest land may have additional access considerations. Check NJDEP for any Highlands-specific rules. NOTE: USGS gauge 01388500 is unverified β€” flow data may be stale or unavailable; check with local outfitters as backup.
