About Pequest River

The Pequest River in Warren County is one of NJ's most productive stocked trout streams, flowing past the state's main fish hatchery before joining the Delaware River. It receives heavy stockings of brown, rainbow, and brook trout from the adjacent Pequest Trout Hatchery, making it a go-to river early in the season.

Regulations

Standard NJ stocked trout regulations apply. Season typically opens the second Saturday in April. Some holdover fish survive summer in cooler stretches near spring seeps. NOTE: USGS gauge 01443500 is unverified β€” flow data may be stale or unavailable; check with local outfitters as backup.
