About Pigeon River

The Pigeon River in Otsego County flows through Pigeon River Country State Forest — 105,000 acres of wild public land in northern Michigan. Native brook trout are the primary species in the cold, spring-fed upper reaches. The Pigeon River Country is also home to Michigan's elk herd, giving the area a genuine wilderness feel uncommon in the Lower Peninsula.
