About Pine River

The Pine River flows through the Manistee National Forest in Wexford County — one of Michigan's most scenic and technically challenging trout streams. Wild brown and brook trout hold in deep pools beneath undercut banks and fallen timber. The Pine is also Michigan's most challenging designated canoe river; high water advisory applies and the current regulations prohibit canoes on the upper river during trout season on certain sections.

Regulations

Check Wexford/Osceola County exceptions in current Michigan DNR guide. Some sections may have canoe exclusion periods during trout season. Michigan Fishing License required. Season opens last Saturday of April.
