About Raquette River

A classic Adirondack river running from Raquette Lake north through Long Lake and Tupper Lake before reaching the St. Lawrence. The upper and middle Raquette near Colton and Long Lake is prime wild trout habitat — stoneflies, caddis, Hendrickson, March Brown, and Blue-Winged Olive all appear in the wild reaches.

Regulations

Adirondack Park regulations apply — check NYSDEC for current special regulation waters. Gauge is at Raymondville on the lower river near the St. Lawrence — the main Adirondack trout fishery is in the upper/middle Raquette near Colton and Long Lake, far upstream. Use the gauge for basin-wide conditions and seasonal timing only; upper-river flows will be substantially lower. Requires NYSDEC license.
