About Shepaug River

The Shepaug River is a compact, spring-influenced freestone stream winding through the wooded hills of Litchfield County near Roxbury and Washington. Its hemlock-shaded gorges and intimate pool structure offer excellent small-stream dry-fly fishing for wild brown and brook trout, best approached with light leaders and careful wading. A classic Litchfield Hills stream that rewards stealth and local knowledge over raw casting distance.
