About Soque River

The Soque flows through Habersham County carrying cold, productive water from the Blue Ridge — but most of it is private. Public access is extremely limited; most anglers fish it through guided outfitters or private club memberships. Where accessible, it holds excellent wild rainbows and browns. Standard Georgia regulations apply (8-fish, year-round). The USGS gauge at GA 197 is mid-river near Clarkesville — note the 9-digit USGS site ID (023312495). This is a valid USGS site number; do not truncate or zero-pad it.

Regulations

Georgia fishing license + trout stamp required (resident $15 + $25 = $40/year). Year-round trout season. Standard regulations: 8 trout/day creel limit, no minimum size. The vast majority of the Soque is private; verify access before fishing. 2026–27 regulation cycle. Verify at georgiawildlife.com.
