About South Fork Humboldt River

A high-desert trout stream flowing through Elko County in northeastern Nevada. The South Fork Humboldt is one of the more accessible trout fisheries in the Basin and Range — closer to Elko than the Ruby Mountains, it serves as a practical local option for resident anglers. NDOW stocks rainbow trout seasonally. Flows can be variable depending on snowpack and irrigation demands, so checking the gauge before the drive is essential. An underrated option for exploring Nevada's surprisingly productive eastern river systems.
