About Still River
The Still River is a Farmington River tributary flowing through Colebrook, Barkhamsted, and into Riverton, prized for wild brook trout in its upper hemlock-shaded reaches and for its proximity to the famed Farmington River TMA at the confluence. A Trout Management Area is designated on the Still River in the Winsted-Colebrook-Barkhamsted corridor, protecting quality trout water in a classic Litchfield Hills setting. Best fished in April through June for wild brookies and opportunistic browns moving from the Farmington.
Regulations
Still River TMA (Winsted-Colebrook-Barkhamsted): Trout & Salmon Stamp required; fly fishing only as posted; catch-and-release only September 1 through the Friday before the second Saturday in April. General state season outside TMA: second Saturday in April through November 30. 9" minimum size statewide.
