About Straight River
The Straight River in southeast Minnesota is a medium-sized Driftless trout stream with strong populations of wild brown trout. Flows through a mix of pasture and woodland with public-access easements along most of the trout water. Classic SE MN limestone-influenced fishery — Trico spinner falls, Sulphurs, and summer terrestrials.
Regulations
Minnesota fishing license required ($25 resident annual) + $10.75 trout stamp. Season opens second Saturday in April (2026: April 11). Verify county-by-county special-regulation sections in current Minnesota DNR trout regulations.
