About Truckee River

The Truckee River flows from Lake Tahoe through the historic mountain town of Truckee before entering Nevada. The California section offers tailwater fishing with wild rainbow and brown trout, plus native Lahontan cutthroat trout in protected reaches. The river fishes well year-round, with PMDs and caddis dominating the summer hatches.
