About West Branch Westfield River

The West Branch Westfield drains a high forested plateau between Becket, Middlefield, and Chester before dropping steeply into Huntington where it joins the main Westfield. It's a quintessential Berkshire freestone river — fast riffles alternating with deep ledge pools, cold and clear even in late summer, and supporting wild brown and brook trout throughout its length. It sees far less angling pressure than the East Branch Chesterfield Gorge section despite offering comparable quality.
