About Whitewood Creek

A Black Hills stream flowing through the historic gold-mining communities of Lead and Deadwood. Whitewood Creek has been subject to extensive stream restoration following legacy mining impacts, and trout populations have responded well to SDGFP stocking. The setting through old mining towns adds historical character to the fishing experience. NOTE: Fish consumption advisories exist due to historic gold-mining tailings — practice catch-and-release and check current SDGFP advisories before retaining fish.
