About Wild River

A remote Evans Notch wilderness stream draining White Mountain National Forest land. Wild native brook trout in a small drainage — excellent when other rivers are running too high. Rugged wading; felt soles or cleats recommended. WMNF campground at Wild River Campground.

Regulations

NH fishing license required. Standard wild trout regs apply on NH side. NOTE: USGS gauge 01054200 is physically located at Gilead, MAINE — just over the NH/ME border. It accurately measures the Wild River, which drains NH national forest land, but the gauge itself is a Maine station.
